London Breakbeat Orchestra
Providing the music for waltzes in the ballroom and swing in the dance halls, orchestras haven't always been limited to the concert hall.
LBO was formed in September 2005 by composer Cimeon Ellerton, who drew on resources and musicians whilst studying at Trinity College of Music in Greenwich. Since its conception, Cimeon has sought to recreate and reinvent the sound of 21st century electronica with particular focus on the genres of breakbeat and drum n bass. LBO's live performances area feast for both the eyes and ears.
Taking the orchestra to venues more commonly associated with DJs and rock bands, LBO demonstrates that orchestral instruments can be used for far more than classical music. Killer grooves, turntablism and FX plus 30 virtuoso instrumentalists combine to create floor fillers live. This is orchestral music as you've never heard it before!
LBO has been featured live in session on Annie Nightingale's Radio One show in March 2007. LBO have also performed Air at Cargo, Trafalgar Square and Carling Academy, Islington, with the Festival of Youth Arts (FYA), Battersea Arts Centre's 'BURST' festival and the Q Club in Birmingham as well as numerous other London clubs. Promoter and producer Ali B invited LBO to perform at his famed club night 'Air' at Cargo in December 2007 and has since offered the orchestra an opportunity to record their debut album on Air Recordings this year..... watch this space! |
